A. Everyone defines fashion in their own ways. Fashion is something which is different everyday. It changes every now and then. People start with a particular trend and everyone follows it and that becomes fashion.

A. I shop from anywhere and everywhere. I like shopping when I am travelling, especially abroad. If I am in town then I mostly shop from Bandra and if it’s accessories it has to be from Linking road, Bandra and Colaba Causaway.

A. I am not all that a brand conscious person but if I am abroad then I like collecting branded stuffs.

A. Yes, of course. I have many friends into modeling and from the fashion world and whenever I get time I see one of them.

A. I guess it was a sari which priced me around 25K. I have many designer saris mostly from Satya Paul. He creates magnificent sari. I also love collecting sari so that I can wear them after my marriage (laughs).

A. My favourite party wear will mostly be a short black dress.

A. It is for sure tracks and tank tops. Even a pair of jeans and a top will do.

Priyanka Chopra admits that she hasn’t rested for more than a year now. 2008 especially has been crazy with five releases already to her name and sixth round the corner in the form of Dostana.

However, she doesn’t mind all the excitement coming her way as she hardly has got time to mourn over the failure of her movies or revel in the success of Fashion. Joginder Tuteja catches up with Priyanka Chopra hours before her Dostana gets ready to hit the screens.

Love Story 2050, God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku, Drona, Fashion and now Dostana – Whew!
(Laughs) Ya, these are indeed exciting times. I could use so many adjectives to describe what I feel but well, in the end it’s all so scary. There are so many expectations that one attaches to a project. It is like sitting in Board examinations month after month.

Dostana still sounds like a safe film after all. Promos give an impression that it is an out and out fun film.
There are a little bit of emotions attached to the film as well. At the end of the day it is mainstream cinema and it has to be interesting. Dostana is not a random candy floss entertainer.

Since the film has been made for commercial audience, it has to tell an engaging story. Here things turn really different. That’s because when I interact with the characters played by Abhi and John, it gives a different dimension to a man-woman relationship.

It’s really fun because I am there with these two guys who are supposed to be in a romcom relationship of their own!

A film with two men in a romcom affair? And you were still game for it?
I was sold the moment Tarun (Mansukhani) narrated the film to me. I didn’t have any apprehensions because Tarun was so clear in admitting this very basic fact to the world on screen. He wanted to bring things out of closed doors and make the world know that this too is a part of society around us.

But wasn’t there any apprehension about non-acceptance of the film? What if it doesn’t turn out to be a hit?
Also, Tarun is a first time director.
You can’t pick a film thinking whether it would be a hit or not. How can you even do some calculations?
Yes, you do assess the commercial viability of the subject but beyond that you have to leave it to the conviction of the director.

And let me tell you that I wasn’t even thinking about Tarun being a debutant director here. I have worked with quite a few since I made my debut and while some of them have made fantastic films, some haven’t.

But that can’t deter me from saying no to someone just because he/she hasn’t been entrusted with this responsibility before. Come on, someone gave me a first chance too!

Karan’s association with the project would have reassuring enough though?
Having Karan around is great but Dostana is Tarun’s baby all the way. It is written and directed by him and knows the subject inside out while Karan hardly came on the film’s sets.

Moreover, I myself come with so many questions while working on a film and sometimes it can become really testing times for the directors. Still, Tarun braved all of it and answered all my questions. That shows his understanding, commitment and conviction.

You earlier mentioned that Dostana has some emotional moments as well. The KJo effect?
I won’t say that the film has trademark Karan Johar stamp of emotional moments in Dostana. But then yes, there are moments where you get a lump in your throat. There is some softness in heart that comes on and just like there are some ups and downs in every feel good entertainer, the same is the case with Dostana too.

Softer songs like ‘Kuch Kum’ and ‘Khabar Nahi’ do promise that, isn’t it?
Yeah. In the narrative they really do well. I know that songs like ‘Desi Girl’, ‘Maa Da Laadla’ and ‘Shut Up and Bounce’ are a rage today but I know for sure that once the films release, others too would pick up well amongst the audience.

Coming to your much talked about look; there are talks about the hard work you put in shaping your body for Dostana.
(Smiles) It’s great that after Fashion, my look is being noticed in Dostana as well. However, I know for myself that hard work was there in Drona or Love Story 2050 or for that matter even Don. It’s just that currently we are talking only about Dostana or Fashion.

But your weight loss is quite apparent in Dostana?
It’s my luck that I was working on both Fashion and Dostana together. For the early part of Fashion, I had to put some weight to depict the chubby look of a Chandigarh girl.

Then for the Mumbai shoot of Fashion which showed my journey to the top as a supermodel, I had to loose weight. The look I acquired for Fashion also helped Dostana because I was training hard and was fast acquiring a well toned physique.Last but not the least, one can’t help but ask this question. How does Bobby Deol’s character bring the twist in the plot of Dostana. And please don’t say – ‘Watch the film’!

कुराले बौद्धिक भएको परचिय बाँडेका हमाल व्यवहारमा भने त्यस्तो लाग्दैनन् । १७ वर्षको अभिनय जीवनमा मनले खाएको एउटा चलचित्र पनि नपाउनु वा नहुनु दुर्भाग्य नै हो । हमाल मात्र होइन, अपवादबाहेक सबै निर्माता, निर्देशक वा कलाकारको नियति यस्तै छ ।
यतिबेलाका चल्तीका निर्देशकहरू को हुन् ? यसको जवाफचाहिँ गाह्राे छैन । दीपक श्रेष्ठ, शोभित बस्नेत र मदन घिमिरेसँग सबैभन्दा बढी चलचित्र भएकाले व्यस्त उनै छन् । यी निर्देशकका चलचित्रले व्यावसायिक रूपमा निर्मातालाई अप्ठ्यारोमा नपारेका कारण सक्रियता कायम रहेको वितरकहरू बताउँछन् । उनीहरूका चलचित्र कस्ता हुन्छन् ? सन् ‘७० र ‘८० को दशकमा निर्मित बलिउडका चलचित्रको फोटोकपी गर्ने प्रयास गरन्िछ । यो यथार्थलाई निर्देशक बस्नेत नकार्दैनन् । भन्छन्, “पेट पाल्नुपर्छ । घाटामा जाने चलचित्र बनाउने हो र ? कुस्त पैसा कमाइएछ भने पछि कलात्मक चलचित्र बनाउनुपर्ला ।” यस वर्ष बस्नेतका तीनवटा चलचित्र प्रदर्शनमा आइसक्ने छन् । यी तीनै निर्देशकका रोजाइका अभिनेता हुन् एक मात्र राजेश हमाल ।
बलिउडका पुराना चलचित्रबाट नेपाली बनाउन पल्किएका र चल्तीको निर्देशक भई खाएकाहरू विचारगोष्ठीमा रमाउँदैनन् । चलचित्र महोत्सवहरूमा सहभागी हुँदैनन् । संसार प्रसिद्ध चलचित्र पनि हेर्दैनन् । आखिर किन ? निर्देशक मदन घिमिरेका अनुसार फुर्सदै हुँदैन । भन्छन्, “काम लाग्ने खाले मात्र हेरन्िछ ।” अर्का निर्देशक दीपक श्रेष्ठ पनि दर्शकको स्वाद बुझेर चलचित्र बनाउने बताउँछन् । भन्छन्, “जहाँसुकैको फोटोकपी होस्, पहिलो नम्बर चलचित्र चल्नुपर्छ ।”
त्यसो त चलचित्र उद्योगमा श्रेष्ठ, बस्नेत र घिमिरेकै पथमा हिँड्नेको बाहुल्य छ । ०६४ मा प्रदर्शनमा आएका ३३ मध्ये ३० चलचित्र उनीहरूकै शैलीमा देखिए ।
व्यक्तिगत रूपमा यी तीनका चलचित्र व्यावसायिक हिसाबले तारपिmयोग्य नै भए । तर, आमचलचित्रको अवस्था त्यस्तो रहेन । ३३ चलचित्रका लागि १३ करोड ५० लाख रुपियाँ लगानी भए पनि फिर्ताचाहिँ १२ करोडमा सीमित भएको विश्लेषकहरू बताउँछन् । वितरक मनोज राठीका अनुसार, यो घाटाको उद्योग हो । भन्छन्, “उद्योग ओरालोमा छ ।”
चलचित्र घाटाको उद्योग भएको प्रमाणित भइसक्दा पनि पुरानो विचारकाहरू भने राम्रो चलचित्र चल्ने तर्क गर्छन् । उनीहरूले यस्तो तर्क अघि साररिहेकै बेला नेपाली चलचित्र चल्ने बहुसङ्ख्यक हलहरू बन्द भएका छन् ।

स्थापित निर्माता तथा निर्देशकहरू पलायन भएका छन् । स्थापित चलचित्रकर्मी टाढा हुँदै गएका छन् । चलचित्र दासढुङ्गा निर्देशन गररिहेका युवा निर्देशक मनोज पण्डित अघिल्लो पुस्ताले विश्राम लिने बेला भइनसकेको बताउँछन् । भन्छन्, “उहाँहरूले पुस्ता हस्तान्तरण गरेर मात्र छोड्नुपथ्र्यो ।” अहिलेको चलचित्र उद्योगमा बोकाहरूबाट दाइँ भइरहेको उनको तर्क छ ।
चलचित्र उद्योगको अवस्थ्ाा चिन्ताजनक भए पनि केही आशाका किरणचाहिँ टल्किन थालेका छन् । निर्देशकहरूको एउटा डफ्फा यतिबेला अनुसन्धानमा छ । कुनैबेला विदेशी चलचित्र भनेर बलिउडमा सीमित हुने उनीहरू अहिले हलिउड र संसार प्रसिद्ध चलचित्र हेर्न थालेका छन् । चलचित्र निर्देशक समाजको छातामुनि समेटिएका उनीहरू प्रत्येक शुक्रबार एकै ठाउँ जम्मा भएर चलचित्र हेर्ने र विश्लेषण गर्ने अभियानमा छन् ।
पोहोर सालसम्म चलचित्र महोत्सव वा वृत्तचित्र महोत्सवमा नेपाली चलचित्रकर्मीको उपस्थिति शून्य हुन्थ्यो । आकाश अधिकारी, सुवास गजुरेल, शिव रेग्मी, मनोज पण्डित, केपी पाठक, राजेन्द्र उप्रेती, योगेश घिमिरे, विकास आचार्य आदि निर्देशकहरूले पछिल्लोपटक आयोजित महोत्सवमा नियमित रूपमा सहभागिता जनाए । भर्खरै सम्पन्न दक्षिण एसियाली वृत्तचित्र महोत्सव होस्, चाहे एक महिनाअघि सकिएको काठमाडौँ अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय माउन्टेन फिल्म फेस्टिवल होस्, उनीहरूको सहभागिता उत्साहजनक थियो ।
उनीहरू खोजी तथा अनुसन्धानमा छन् भन्ने अर्को प्रमाण चलचित्र निर्देशक समाजसँग छ । छ महिनाअघि समाजले तीनदिने गोष्ठी सम्पन्न गर्‍यो नगरकोटमा । त्यो गोष्ठीमा ४५ चलचित्रकर्मी सहभागी थिए । तीमध्ये ५० प्रतिशत थिए निर्देशकहरू । समाजका अनुसार, त्यतिबेला उनीहरूलाई अनुरोध गरएिको थियो सहभागिताका लागि । फेर िसमाजले यही महिना सोही ठाउँमा तीन दिनकै अर्को गोष्ठी गर्दैछ । अहिले कसैलाई अनुरोध गरएिको छैन तर भाग लिने इच्छुकको सङ्ख्या अत्यधिक भएको समाजका महासचिव नीलहर िकाफ्ले बताउँछन् । भन्छन्, “४५ जना लाने कार्यक्रम छ तर ६० भन्दा बढीले जाने इच्छा देखाएका छन् ।”
निर्माण तयारीले पनि आशाको किरण देखिएको निर्देशकहरू बताउँछन् । मैना प्रदर्शनको मुखमा छ । यसले केही पि्रमियरबाटै राम्रो प्रशंसा बटुलिसकेको छ । निर्माता तथा निर्देशक केपी पाठक अर्को नयाँ चलचित्रको गृहकार्यमा जुटिसकेका छन् । उनले त बलिउड शैलीका ठिमाहा चलचित्र नबनाउने घोषणा नै गरेका छन् । भन्छन्, “मौलिक चलचित्रले पनि व्यवसाय गर्न सक्छ भन्ने प्रमाण दिनुपरेको छ ।” त्यसैगरी, मनोज पण्डित डेढ दशकअघि दुर्घटनामा परी मृत्यु भएका तत्कालीन एमाले महासचिव मदन भण्डारीको मृत्युको रहस्य खोतल्दैछन् । उनी छायाङ्कनका क्रममा छन् । चलचित्र नुमाफुङबाट स्थापित बनेका निर्माता तथा निर्देशक नवीन सुब्बा गुडवाई काठमाडौँ बनाउने गृहकार्यमा छन् ।

यस चलचित्रको पटकथा तयार भइसकेको नवीन बताउँछन् । गुडवाई काठमाडौँको पटकथा राजेश गोङ्गजुले तयार गरेका हुन् ।
फरक कथा, प्रस्तुति र प्रविधिमा सीमोस सुनुवारले मिसन पैसा नामक चलचित्र तयार गरेका छन् । यस चलचित्रप्रति युवावर्गले चासो लिइरहेको निर्माण पक्षको बुझाइ छ । मोफसलमा चलेर काठमाडौँ पस्ने तयारीमा बसेका दुई चलचित्र मुनामदन र बसाइले पनि चलचित्र वृत्तलाई तताउने त्यसका निर्देशकहरू बताउँछन् । मुनामदनका निर्देशक ज्ञानेन्द्र देउजाका अनुसार बाहिरजस्तै उपत्यकाभित्र पनि यसले कीर्तिमान राख्छ । भन्छन्, “यो चलचित्र चल्यो भने यसले राम्राे माहोल बनाउँछ ।” बसाइका निर्देशक सुवास गजुरेल पनि राजधानीका दर्शकले बसाइलाई स्वीकार्ने बताउँछन् ।
पुरानै सूत्रमा तर स्तरीय बनेका केही चलचित्रले पनि चलचित्रवृत्त तताउने पूर्वानुमान गर्न सकिन्छ । यो दौडमा निर्देशक तुलसी घिमिरे अगाडि छन् । उनी आफ्नो महत्त्वाकाङ्क्षी चलचित्र देशमार्फत सार्वजनिक हुँदैछन् । यस चलचित्रमा राजेश हमाल, निरुता सिंह, निखिल उप्रेतीलगायत चल्तीका कलाकारले अभिनय गरेका छन् ।
त्यसैगरी गोपीकृष्ण मुभिजको निर्माण तथा निरक पौडेलनिर्देशित चलचित्र कुसुमे रुमालले सबैखाले दर्शक तान्नसक्ने विश्वासमा छ निर्माण पक्षको । नायक श्रीकृष्ण श्रेष्ठद्वारा निर्मित कहाँ छौ पनि आशा गरएिको चलचित्रमा पर्छ । राम्रो निर्देशकका रूपमा दरएिका उज्ज्वल घिमिरे पनि हाल भुलिगए पाप लाग्ला नामक चलचित्रको छायाङ्कनमा छन् । व्यावसायिक रूपमा सफल मानिएका निर्माता केशव भट्टराईद्वारा निर्मित यस चलचित्रबाट पनि यस क्ष्ाेत्रले आशा गरेको छ ।
चलचित्र क्ष्ाेत्रमा विगत वर्षहरूमा पनि आशातित अभियान र चलचित्रको चर्चा हुने गर्थे । तर, परण्िााम भने सकारात्मक आएको पाइन्नथ्यो । यसपटकचाहिँ निर्माता तथा निर्देशकहरू कथा-पटकथादेखि नै गृहकार्यमा जुट्न थालेको बताउँछन् । जेहोस्, निर्देशक नवीन सुब्बाको एउटा प्रश्नचाहिँ यस क्षेत्रमा सदाबहार छ । उनले सोधेका थिए, “एउटा विदेशीले नेपाली चलचित्र कस्तो हुन्छ भन्यो भने के जवाफ दिने ?”
चल्तीका नायक राजेश हमाल आफूले डेढ सय चलचित्रमा अभिनय गरसिक्दा पनि लायक चलचित्रको नाम लिन असमर्थ हुनु र नवीन सुब्बाको प्रश्नमा चलचित्र क्षेत्र अनुत्तरति हुनु सायद एउटै हो । सुब्बाको प्रश्नको जवाफ उद्योगले नभेटुन्जेलसम्म हमालले पनि नाजवाफ नै भइरहनुपर्ने छ । यतिबेला तातेका निर्देशकको ढिलै भए पनि घैँटामा घाम त लागेको छ तर के तमाम अनुत्तरति प्रश्नको जवाफ यिनीहरूले खोज्न सक्लान् ?

When Aamir started training for Ghajini, he was busy with the post-production and editing of his maiden directorial flick Taare Zameen Par. Yet, he didn`t give any excuse of not having time and devoted three full hours everyday for his work-out. His routine consisted of 10 minutes stretching and warm ups, one hour of weights, an hour of cardio and 40 minutes of abs exercises.Personal trainer Satyajit Chaurasia is not one to let go easily and was responsible for making Aamir go the extra mile.With each passing day, the results began to show on Aamir`s body.According to Aamir, getting the perfect body has more to do with your mental endurance level rather than your physical endurance level.

He also adds that to get the right physique apart from a good work-out session, one also needs to have a balanced diet and get good, adequate rest. Aamir`s diet consisted of 16 egg whites each single day and no matter how busy he was, he managed to get at least eight hours of sleep during his training.Last year SRK created a frenzy of sorts when he revealed his six-pack abs in Om Shanti Om.

Not one to be left behind, Aamir has now gone one step ahead and developed eight pack abs for his role in Ghajini.After a year of hardcore training, Aamir has finally got the body that he desired so badly. The results are there for all to see; within a year, Aamir`s biceps have increased from 12` to 16` while his chest which was earlier 38` now measures up to 44`.
